The Alcantatea Imperialis Rubra is one of the "Giant" bromeliads because it can grow to 5' across and the thick flower spike can reach 7' given the right conditions. It has hundreds of small white fragrant flowers. It will take years for this to happen, but it's so imposing that it looks grand until then anyway! The wide leaves are a blueish green color on top with a silvery cast and the underleaf is a beautiful maroon color. They do well in full sun or partial shade. It originates in Brazil and can handle a wide range of temps. This is a great stand alone specimen or centerpiece. This auction is for robust plant that is 25" across.
